the creators ai is replacing (right now)

Writers and marketers—AI is reshaping your craft today.

Here's what's scary about AI applied to content creation:

Most people can't differentiate AI-written content from content that has been written manually (when prompted correctly.)

I sometimes can't. Even though I'm writing with it every day.

Want some proof?

Take a look at this Substack Note.

Or this one.

Or this one.

Can you differentiate which one has been written by AI?

Answer: All of them.

But the core idea and the prompt?

Those came from yours truly...

Now, let's amp this up a bit:

Companies like Zoom or Meta talk a lot about avatars...

Which is your digital clone, if you prefer.

In a few years, we'll probably have avatars to navigate the Metaverse...

And that can create professionally shot videos in just a few prompts (as if they were real.)

Heygen is the perfect example of something that is working right now.

(It's still a bit too robotic.)

AI can record podcasts on your behalf.

You can use tools like ElevenLabs to "clone" your voice.

Scary? Yes.

But that’s the world we'll live in.

A few months back, I had a brief call about AI with top copywriter Bob Bly and he told me (paraphrased): "AI could be the end of western civilization as we know it..."

So, yeah. You can either deny it or embrace it.

The only way to draw a unique advantage is to make your content more personal:

Start a journal.
Record stories as they happen.
Document your feelings & discoveries.

Transcribe them. Write them down. Dictate. Whatever.

Put these into your notes.

I'm an introvert. I don't talk much. And storytelling doesn't come natural to me.

But I've forced myself over the years to record whatever happens to me because this is real life experience I can then weave into my content.

Even if your content is not perfect, all these are pieces combined can become raw materials you'll be able to use to "humanize" your content.

These are a personal inputs that you can feed AI with to have an unfair advantage.

If you don't have personal stories, anecdotes nor don't know how to weave your feelings into your content?

You're ai-replaceable.

Now is the golden age to document.

I’m using AI to create blog articles in a few minutes, which used to take me hours.

I’ve developed a writing style over the years.

I have a content library, ideas, and things to feed AI.

There are still many things that I do manually, not because of the efficiency, but simply because of the enjoyment that I get out of this, like writing this email (not generated by ai.)

Documenting is just the first part.

The second part is to develop a unique writing style.

A style so unique that people can smell miles away that {insert your name here} has written the content.

How to find a unique writing style?

Start by mimicking people that you enjoy reading from, and adding your own personal touch to it.

Not me saying this, but legendary now-dead copywriter Gary Halbert in Chapter 17 of his famous Boron Letters:

"The Best Way To Become A Good Writer... Is By... Writing Good Writing!

Don't worry about developing a "style."

Your own peculiarities will emerge soon enough."
– Gary Halbert
